About me

“The camera is the least important element in photography.” -Julius Shulman

Hi there!  My name is Christy Kirkland.  I am a Wife, Mother and Photographer.

I married my high school sweetheart and we have 2 amazing boys Max (7) and Myles (4).  They are the reason I photograph newborns.  My very first photoshoot was with my son Max when he was 4 weeks old.  I used my Canon point and shoot camera.  They aren’t perfect but I cherish those pictures. After that I decided I had to get better at this whole picture thing and got my first DSLR, Canon of course ;). He was my muse and my practice subject for the next 2 years. Myles came along and he inspired me to find a way to snuggle newborns for a living. What could possibly be better?  I took the leap of faith to quit my job and stay at home with my boys and take pictures on the weekends.   Since then I have made the transition to full time photographer while my kids are at school and I get to spend quality time with them when I’m not shooting.

I’m a bit of a homebody.  I love to watch movies and play games with my kids.  Relax on the couch with my knitting once they’re in bed.  I make most of my own props for my newborn sessions aside from headbands.  I’m no good with a glue gun so I stick to knitting.

I’m an animal lover and we’ve recently added a new addition.  Baxter is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and he’s super sweet and my little cuddle bug.

I love to read, though these days most of my reading happens through audio books.  I adore anything Stephen King, suspense and fantasy. I’m getting into some period pieces lately and really enjoying them.  I’m a bit of a nerd when it comes to movies and TV.  I love Dr. Who and anything with superheros.

If you’re looking for someone creative, who will take all the worry out of your newborn’s first photos, and will deliver you with amazing images of your sweet bundle, I’m your girl!  Sit back, relax, have a nap on the couch if you like (happens more than you think) and let me take care of the rest. 🙂
